By Car and Ferry
Still the favourite travel method for summer holiday trips of 2 weeks. Portsmouth to St Malo is brilliant with Brittany Ferries and slashes drive times to Dordogne. Calais is 850km away. Autoroutes go to Angouleme and Periguex, with good roads on to Riberac and nearby Lusignac. See useful links below to access Ferries and Eurotunnel.
By Air
UK flights from various airports via economy carriers now go to Bergerac Angouleme, Limoges, Poitiers or Bordeaux. We happen to prefer Bergerac and Angouleme. This is a good option for those with more limited holiday time. Hire a car at the airport. See links below to access airlines.
